Chris Rock talks sense about Roman Polanski

When the list of heavyweight Hollywood supporters of the “Free Roman Polanski” petition (including Harrison Ford, Jeremy Irons, Natalie Portman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Martin Scorcese to name a few) was released, we at The Pixel Project reacted with both alarm and sadness at the sight of so many prominent and influential people backing a child rapist who, by all accounts, fled the USA 32 years ago to avoid facing the full consequences of his actions.

Rape is rape – regardless of what Whoopi Goldberg says.

There are no excuses.

So imagine our relief when we started seeing the backlash building from both the women’s movement, feminists and various celebrities.

The best celebrity response yet came from the most unexpected person – Chris Rock. And his point-blank take-the-bull-by-the-horns call-a-spade-a-spade approach is both funny and incisive:

Well said, Mr Rock! And thank you for being brave enough to speak out against the madness that is “Free Roman Polanski”!
