Last week in Islamabad, UN Women and the UKS Research Centre held a one-day meeting with media reporters to discuss “the importance of the media’s role to change…society’s prevailing mindsets on gender-based violence, and how the media can be helpful to empower women who have faced violence.”

Attendees included senior media personalities, media managers, and communication specialists. The meeting began with a presentation of examples of how different forms of violence against women were reported in the media.

The ultimate aim is to create a Media Task Force to promote zero tolerance of violence against women and judgmental reporting.
