Welcome to the 69th edition of The Pixel Project’s VAW e-News Digest!
October marks National Domestic Violence Awareness month in the United States and the launch of the One Billion Rising campaign for this year. We, also, highlight male allies who are making a difference in the work to eradicate violence against women around the world, including a Muslim prosecutor in Britain who fights forced marriages and honour killing, and a Congolese doctor who helps victims of female genital mutilation.
We, also, highlight news that cover rape culture in various parts of the world, including articles that recognise the complexity of rape culture in India, the dynamics of racism in reporting on rape in South Africa, and how some men in Asia have embraced rape as a symbol of machismo.
Every contribution matters. If you have any news you’d like to share about violence against women, please email The Pixel Project at info@thepixelproject.net. Best regards,
The Pixel Project Team
