Welcome to the 73rd edition of The Pixel Project’s VAW e-News Digest.
It is the one-year anniversary of the tragic gang rape of Jyoti Singh Pandey in Delhi. Various parties discuss the extent of change and progress made since then to protect women from violence in India, with mixed views.
This past fortnight was the worldwide campaign of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. This year, the White Ribbon Campaign in Australia has released a guide to help reduce gender violence in the workplace. In other news, CNN has published a series of journalistic articles on sex trafficking in Cambodia. The series includes spotlight on the mothers who sell their children to the sex trade and the circumstances that drive them to do it. Street Harassment was a popular topic in the United States with debate happening on the meaning and seriousness of sexual harassment and it’s impact.
