[TRIGGER WARNING: Some of the news stories in this paragraph may be distressing for survivors of rape, battery, dating abuse, and sexual assault] In Canada, 9 women (including Lucy Decoutere, one of the stars of Trailer Park Boys) have come forward to expose celebrity radio host Jian Ghomeshi as a serial abuser who punched, kicked, and sexually assaulted women on dates. Ghomeshi was fired by the CBC from his vaunted position as host of the storied pop culture and current affairs radio show Q, dropped by every representative, and is now facing a criminal investigation by the Toronto Police as 3 women have filed charges against him. The Ghomeshi scandal has kicked off a national and global conversation about the importance of consent, rape culture, and victim-blaming.
