Welcome to the 110th edition of The Pixel Project’s VAW e-News Digest!
This month the Beijing Platform turns 20. The platform is a complete declaration of action and plan to work on critical areas related to the equality of women and girls. Feminists and activists in China respond to it.
The popular site Feministing has published a DIY Feminist Cybersecurity Guide in response to growing harassment against feminists online. The United Nations has recently called for urgent action to address forms of cyber violence against women and girls. In the United States, Florida addressing forms of cyberharassment and sex trafficking by making it illegal to post sexually explicit material without the knowledge of those identified in them.
We are moved and inspired by the actions of individuals who are making a difference in their own ways to counter and remove violence against women in their respective societies. From stories of a tattoo artist who will cover scars of domestic violence survivors for free in Brazil, to doctors in Haiti or the Democratic Republic of Congo working with survivors of sexual violence, to activists in Cambodia who make use of technology to address violence against women, ordinary people are taking action and making a difference each day.
